- Faculty of Qualified Academic Programs (QAP) and Qualified Equivalent Programs (QEP) may waive the Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and Certified Safety Professional (CSP) exam fees (one [1] time per certification) in the first six (6) months following publication of their program’s becoming a QAP or QEP.
GSP and TSP Application/Renewal
Effective Date:Â January 1, 2021
- In an effort to simplify the process of attaining the Graduate Safety Practitioner and Transitional Safety Practitioner designations BCSP will be eliminating the prorated renewal fee due upon issue and instead implementing a $25 application fee. This will save recipients of the GSP or TSP up to $100.
Eligibility/Application

- Applicants who apply with a non-U.S. degree will be allowed to upload their academic records directly to BCSP, where they will continue to be evaluated under the same rigorous standards for U.S. equivalency. More information on this change can be read here.

- The Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) and Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) certifications’ experience requirements may now be met with either two (2) years supervisory experience; or four (4) years work experience (work experience must be a minimum part-time [18 hrs/week] to qualify); or an associate degree or higher in occupational safety, risk management, or construction management; or completion of a 2-year trade or union training program/apprenticeship.
Examination

- The ASP examination will be updated and candidates sitting for the ASP exam will take the new version beginning this date. Information on the updated exam can be found in the ASP Exam Blueprint and References on the ASP webpage.

- Candidates will be provided an on-screen calculator during their exam. The on-screen calculator will emulate the TI-30XS scientific calculator. Test centers do not provide physical calculators or allow candidates to bring in their own.
Recertification/Renewal

- Recertification cycle and worksheet due dates changed:
- Certificants’ recertification cycles have been adjusted to run from July 1 to June 30 instead of from January 1 to December 31.
- Recertification worksheets are now due on or before July 31 following the end of the recertification cycle.
