Whether you are looking to study for a new career in safety or seeking a safety, health, and environment (SH&E) education before entering the workforce, there are a variety of academic programs available. To support individuals in finding the college right for them, BCSP provides the Academic Database, a list of SH&E academic programs holding accreditation recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
With many college’s applications due at the end of the year, now is a good time to sit down and complete those for universities you would like to attend.
Consider that BCSP recognizes certain academic programs as Graduate Safety Practitioner® (GSP®) Qualified Academic Programs (QAP). Those who attend these programs enjoy certain benefits offered by BCSP.
While enrolled in a QAP, students have the opportunity to apply for a BCSP-funded, $5,000 scholarship. Program graduates receive the GSP designation, providing additional recognition for their level of preparation, and demonstrating dedication to continued professional development through a commitment to attaining the industry recognized Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®).
The full list of safety programs that provide a path to the CSP, including QAPs, can be viewed in the BCSP Academic Database.
Individuals and groups that would like to popularize careers in SH&E practice are encouraged to join in the #ChooseSafety campaign, which includes materials that can be used in outreach. These are among a variety of complimentary BCSP Presentation and Outreach resources.
