Past Years' Policy and Procedure Changes

General

Effective Date: January 1, 2012

  • Modifications to the BCSP ByLaws go into effect.

Eligibility/Application

Effective Date: January 30, 2012

  • All BCSP certifications will be held to the same disciplinary action policy. All applicants, candidates, and credential holders must report the following:
    1. All felony convictions
    2. Only misdemeanor convictions within the past 5 years
    3. Any record of unethical behavior
    4. Denial, suspension or revocation of a professional license or certification for reason other than not meeting qualifications

Effective Date: March 1, 2012

  • To satisfy BCSP’s requirement that all degrees from colleges and universities outside the United States be evaluated for U.S. equivalency, applicants may now have their degree evaluated by any member of the National Associate of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES®).

Examination

Effective Date: January 1, 2012

  • Occupational Health and Safety Technologist/Certified Loss Control Specialist Examination Fee Increase to $300.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician Examination Fee Increase to $300.

Effective Date: July 2, 2012

The OHST/CLCS examination will be updated. Important changes include:

  • Removal of Ethics portion of the exams
  • Additional emphasis on Hazard Control and Loss Prevention
  • Additional emphasis on Verification and Continuous Improvement
  • The new blueprint will contain 3 domains instead of 5 domains

Recertification/Renewal

Effective Date: January 1, 2012

  • Occupational Health and Safety Technologist/Certified Loss Control Specialist Renewal Fee Increase to $120.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician Renewal Fee Increase to $120.
  • Associate Occupational Health and Safety Technologist/Associate Certified Loss Control Specialist Renewal Fee Increase to $110.
  • Associate Construction Health and Safety Technician Renewal Fee Increase to $110.
