Latest Policy and Procedure Changes

January 1, 2014

General

Effective Date: January 1, 2014

  • The 110 question, two-hour Certified Environmental, Health and Safety Trainer (CET) examination will no longer be available

Effective Date: May 2014

  • The 200 question, four-hour CET examination will be released

Effective Date: October 2014

Eligibility/Application

Effective Date: January 1, 2014

  • All eligible candidates may purchase a single, one (1) year eligibility extension for $100 before their eligibility end date – second eligibility extensions will no longer be offered

Effective Date: June 15, 2014

  • STS applicants must have two (2) years of supervisory experience or four (4) years of work experience related to the STS industry exam for which they are applying (work experience must be a minimum part-time [18 hrs/week] to qualify)

Effective Date: October 2014

  • All candidates will be eligible to sit for their examination until one (1) year from the date their application is approved – Current eligible candidates will have a new eligibility end date one year from implementation or less, depending on the current eligibility status
  • BCSP certifications will have a new set of eligibility requirements, primarily with regard to necessary experience, view full details of the BCSP certification requirements (PDF)
    • Education may no longer be substituted for experience

Examination

Effective Date: May 1, 2014

  • BCSP will no longer be offering the STS-Mining and STS-Petrochemical examinations

Effective Date: October 2014

  • A candidate’s examination authorization is valid for one sitting during the length of time they are eligible – a candidate may purchase and sit for examination as many times as desired within their eligibility time frame
  • 60 day Examination Extensions will no longer be necessary, and will therefore not be offered

Recertification/Renewal

  • Note that all BCSP certifications’ Recertification processes now share a single guide

Reinstatement

Effective Date: January 1, 2014

  • Certificants who fail to pay their annual renewal fee and wish to reinstate must reinstate before the end of the year in which they are invalidated, pay any unpaid renewal fee(s), and pay a $100 reinstatement fee
  • Certificants who fail to comply with Recertification and wish to reinstate must reinstate before the end of the year in which they are invalidated, pass the examination for the credential to be reinstated, pay any unpaid renewal fee(s), and pay a $100 reinstatement fee
