As the United States celebrates Memorial Day, remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice, BCSP joins in paying tribute to those brave service members who selflessly gave their lives fighting to protect others at home and abroad.
How do you honor those who gave so much? One way is by building upon their legacy. It is a legacy that lives on today through those who continue the mission to protect.
As much as in any other enterprise, safety is of the utmost significance in the armed forces. Those enlisted bear the burden of safeguarding the lives and health of civilians and fellow service members alike. With its mission to inspire and develop leaders in safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) practice, BCSP recognizes the importance of supporting the military and its members.
BCSP, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the Department of Defense (DoD) assist both active military and veterans in their pursuit of certifications that will enhance safety practice during their time of service and provide gold-standard credentials to assist transitioning to civilian jobs.
Active personnel receive benefits including application fee waivers, access to testing, extensions for credential maintenance requirements, and paths to certification through existing achievements. They can also find support for exam prep and annual fees through the DoD’s Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL) program.
Eligible service members, veterans, and certain dependents and survivors may receive support from the Department of Veterans Affairs, including payment for certification exams and reimbursement of application fees.
BCSP certifications have been mapped to 764 occupations across the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Department of Defense civil service. The knowledge gained through credential achievement can improve the prospects for the certificant in those jobs while providing benefits to both the certificant’s branch of the military and future civilian employers.
