HR, Safety and Health Collaboration Encouraged at Global Learning Summit

HR leaders play a key role in facilitating the cultural and leadership capability that underpins a safety culture.

May 4, 2022

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals’ (BCSP) Global Learning Summit (GLS) is designed for everyone who has responsibilities for safety, which includes many in human resources positions.

“HRM (Human Resources Management) is instrumental to create a safe work environment and a proactive preventative culture,” says Mohammad Farhat Ali Khan, CMIOSH, LSSMBB. “HR Leaders play a key role in facilitating the cultural and leadership capability that underpins a safety culture.”

Khan will be presenting on the important ways HR and safety are interdependent in his session, HRM’s Role in Managing Health and Safety at the Workplace, at the BCSP GLS.

“The GLS is a great initiative of BCSP to enhance safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) standards,” says Khan. “The professional development will bestow SH&E personnel with the knowledge required to prevent accidents and injuries occurring at workplaces.”

Khan counts HR professionals among those who can provide important contributions to workplace safety and encourages collaboration between HR and SH&E professionals. It is important this happens, he explains, “to keep workers safe so they can return home to their loved ones.”

“Safety gives job satisfaction…. saving lives, serving society, and producing tangible results,” Khan adds.

HRM’s Role in Managing Health and Safety at the Workplace will be presented on Thursday, May 12, at 7 a.m. (Eastern Time). The complete agenda and registration for the BCSP GLS can be found at BCSPGLS.COM.
