#KeepTeenWorkersSafe Aims to Increase Awareness About Youth Workplace Safety

Join Us in Spreading Teen Workplace Safety Awareness to Teens, Parents, and Employers

March 11, 2020

#KeepTeenWorkersSafe Aims to Increase Awareness About Youth Workplace SafetyEvery minute a young worker between the ages of 15 and 25 is injured on the job. Every day a young worker loses their life in a workplace incident.

As part of a campaign created by OSHA, BCSP has joined the #KeepTeenWorkersSafe national social media event in an effort to spread awareness to youth, educators, parents, supervisors, and employers about the importance of workplace safety.

The #KeepTeenWorkersSafe campaign will take place between April 13 and May 1 this year. Each week will have a separate theme, with the first week, You Have Rights!, dedicated to spreading information about workers’ rights to a safe workplace.

BCSP will be participating in the second week, Every Job Has Hazards!, devoted to spreading information about hazards in the workplace and the importance of identifying and reporting hazards before they become safety incidents.

In 2018, 17,210 teenagers missed work due to a preventable workplace-related injury, and 78 teenagers were fatally injured due to preventable workplace injuries; OSHA and BCSP want to reduce those numbers. If you would like to join us in preventing teen workplace injuries, visit the campaign website keepteenworkerssafe.org and help us spread the word about the dangers our young workforce faces.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, as well as check our blog in April for updates and be sure to share the hashtag #KeepTeenWorkersSafe on April 20!
